(Dept.Of Microbiology , Binzhou Medical College)

This paper focuses on the variaton of Protrus , P. aeruginosa ,E. coli and Staph. Aureus when they proliferate continuously in cultures with different concentrations of MEBO. The results indicate that MEBO can inhibit the bacteria synergically with antibiotics. MEBO can increase the number of WBC in mouse peripheral blood. It can also enhance the phagocytic function of phagocytes in mouse peritoneal cavity. In short, MEBO can induce variation of bacteria and improve nonspecific immunity. The research laid a foundation for further study on anti-infective mechanism of MEBO.

From January , 1988 to December, 1993, 127 extensively burned patients were treated in our department . Ail of them had burn area over 50%BSA. The average burn area was 77\8%BSA. 25 cases were complicated by septicemia , By general blood culture, 12 different types and 41strains of bacteria had been isolated. The predominant bacteria were pseudomonas (26.8%), staphylococcus aureus (19.5%)and others. 14of them were treated with ceffazidime . 4 of them died. The mertality was 26.7%. This paper analyzes the clinical efficacy of ceftazidime in treating in treating extensively burned patients with serious infections.

    (Abstract)

Sun Lekui Zheng Zhenjie Sun Lihua

(Dept. Of Burns, Wendeng Central Hospital)

425 cases of burn and scaid were treated with MEBT. Among them, 12cases had a burn area of 60% to 100% BSA. All the patients were cured. MEBT had very good anti-infective effect. It shortened wound healing time and left no scar or very little scar after healing. MEBT is very easy and simple to perform and requires no special medical facilities.

The authors found that bromogeramine at a concentration of 1:10000 is very effective for complete removal of residual ointment and liquefied products from the wounds, while change of dressing is perfomed. A complete removal of residual drug and liquefied products will help MEBO to fully display its therapeutic effect. Thus, prevention of wound infection and promotion of wound healing can be achieved.

The authors emphasized that when MEBO is applied onto the wounds, it should be applied in a proper and flexible way , in accordance with the principle of MEBT, Systemic treatment is also very important in order to ensure a good therapeutic result.

Clinical Experience With MEBT In Treating Burn Wounds

    (Abstract)

    Xiu Qinghua

(Hospital Of Liaocheng Prefecturd, Shandong Province)

The author treated 98 cases of burn with MEBT. The results were satisfactory. The effective rate was 100%. 93 of the cases were cured. The curative rate was 94.9%. Clinical studies indicated that MEBT has the advantages of obvious analgesic and anti-infective effects and no scar formation for deep second degree burn. The therapy requires no special facilities and is easy to perform. It can be spread to units with poor medical condition.
A Further Study On The Application of MEBT In Treating Burn

    Wounds After Skin Grafting

    (Abstract)

    Zhang Guoqiang

(Dept. Of Burn And Plastic Surgery , Affiliated Hospital , Binzhou Medical College)

35 cases of burn with 50granulation wounds were submitted to free skin autografting and were treated with MEBT. The results were compared with that of traditional bandaging dressing method . The author found that time for starting the application of MEBO, the method used in skin grafting and the condition of the skin graft are very important factors influencing the results of the treatment and pointed out that the application of MEBO should start in 2 to 3 days after skin grafting . while the dressing on th granulation wounds was removed . Early application of MEBO would be beneficial to the healing of the wounds and the recovery of the function and helped to avoid some complications.
