RECENTLY, the trial report—Telomerase Reactivation Reverses Tissue Degeneration in Aged Telomerase-Deficient Mice finished by Harvard University, was published in Nature by which the concerns from worldwide Media were stirred up. In order to make readers know the genuine contents of Human Body Regenerative Restoration Science and the progression of relevant sciences, the journalist interviewed Prof. Xu Rongxiang-the founder of Human Body Regenerative Restoration Science in Beijing. Followed is the interview:
Journalist: Nice to meet you, Mr. Xu Rongxiang. I believe that you must have seen the media reports concerning the reversion of tissue degeneration in aged telomerase-deficient mice. Could you explain the genuine contents of this trial from the professional point of view?
Prof. Xu: Yes. We have ordered the Nature journal. All subscribers of this magazine will definitely read this study report at the immediate time after its publication. The study utilized a kind of telomerase activator to conduct the marked reversal of systemic degenerative phenotypes in mice with telomerase-deficiency. As the telomerase-deficient mice will be provoked senescence or organ system failure. With the telomerase reactivation to repair or extend telomeres, the cells in mice will continue splitting and growing without senescence in advance or termination of senescence. Telomeres are the cap at the end of DNA in cells, whose length will get shortened with life ageing. This study thus acquired the result of reversing tissue degeneration with directivity.
Journalist: someone said, it would take ten years to apply this study on human. How far do you think?
Xu: There is still a long way to go. As the mice tested in this study were successive generations of telomerase-deficient mice, the normal mice will have to be tested in the same method. And then, they need to exclude the carcinogenic factors and finally perform it on human body.
Journalist: Why exclude the carcinogenic factors?
Xu: Because the study method involves the carcinogenic risk. Cancer cells will be progressively proliferating as a result of the persistent enhancement of telomerase activity. The above study method is to increase the activity of telomerase, hence, this method may lead to carcinogenesis.
Journalist: According to this trial report, is there any possibility to realize the rejuvenation or non-ageing of human organs or tissues?
Xu: This test only provided a direction. However, the rejuvenation orpremature ageing prevention had been a fact. In my monograph-Human Body Regenerative Restoration Science you can find the answers, including the test results that the organs of albino rats with doubled ages were in non-aged status, all of which mentioned in their report had been realized. For example, they said the atrophic intestinal villi could be regenerated one day; while we had finished the test to regenerate and restore the atrophic human intestinal villi into young status, and everyone can get the regeneration and restoration of aged intestinal villi in half to one year.
Journalist: Then how much do you think the scientific value of this study?
Xu: This study was the first worldwide to repeat our Human Body Regenerative Restoration Science. Although they used the telomerase-deficient mice and a kind of activator of telomerase, with different ways, the life phenomenon that expressed out in the study is the same as the facts in Human Body Regenerative Restoration Science. It was a new way that will change the means to drive life study. Its value is unpredictable and immeasurable.
Journalist: Last year, we reported the publication of your book-Human Body Regenerative Restoration. How about the progress of this science over the past one year?
Xu: In the past one year, we still concerned on the foundational studies and the clinical application to extensively seek the life mystery of cells in G0 phase, including the further partnership between telomerase and life. Meanwhile, we got the clinical results of Five-Years Regenerative Restoration Study Program on Older People. And we also learned that there were many laboratories worldwide repeating our studies.
